Andrew T. Huang, MD FACS
Dr. Huang specializes in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery. He is licensed in Texas and double-board-certified in Otolaryngology as well as Head and Neck Surgical Oncology and Reconstruction, with a Physician of Excellence Designation in Inspire Therapy. Dr. Huang follows the principle of 3 As: Authenticity, Approachability, and Accountability. He does not take the trust that his patients have in him lightly, and these values keep him focused on providing them the best care he possibly can.
Mission
Dr. Huang is interested in not only being able to prescribe medicinal therapies, but also in working with his hands and providing technical intervention with a keen eye on innovative techniques.
Through Otolaryngology (Ear, Nose, & Throat) and Head and Neck Surgery and Reconstruction, he can build real lifelong relationships with people by helping them with issues that are impacting their airway, breathing, and sleep health.
It is his goal to optimize quality of life by getting to know everyone he treats individually.
Experience & Expertise
Before joining Pasha Snoring and Sinus, Dr. Huang was in academic surgical practice for 11 years, first at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC, and then for the past decade at Baylor College of Medicine in the Texas Medical Center, rising to the rank of Associate Professor and Director of Sleep Surgery and the Positive Airway Pressure (PAP) Alternatives Clinic. During his time in academic medicine, he had the honor to help train 84 residents and 11 fellows, developing one of only 3 fellowship programs in Head and Neck Surgery and Reconstruction accredited by the American Head and Neck Society in Texas.
Education & Training
Dr. Huang graduated in 2007 from the Honors Program in Medicine at the University of Miami (Coral Gables, FL), a 6-year accelerated track, completing 2 years of undergraduate study followed by 4 years of medical school graduate education. At the age of 24, he began his 5-year Otolaryngology residency in his hometown of Richmond, VA, at Virginia Commonwealth University. Following this, he was selected to complete a 3-year advanced fellowship in Head and Neck Surgical Oncology and Reconstruction at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. Through this rigorous training, Dr. Huang gained an appreciation for head and neck anatomy and honed his skills to best help those in need.
Leadership & Recognition
Dr. Huang has spent his career advancing clinical and surgical knowledge, which has resulted in 54 peer-reviewed journal publications, 4 book chapters, and 25 invited lectures nationally and internationally.
While at Baylor College of Medicine, he performed the first Inspire hypoglossal nerve stimulator implant procedure in the Texas Medical Center, the first 2-incision Inspire procedure in Texas, the first Inspire V implant in the Southwestern United States, and the first commercial Nyxoah Genio bilateral hypoglossal nerve stimulator implant in the entire United States. Dr. Huang has performed over 400 neuromodulation procedures during his career and has been recognized as an Inspire Physician of Excellence.
Dr. Huang has been elected as a Top Doctor by Houstonia Magazine every year from 2021 to the present. He is currently the President of the Houston Society of Otolaryngology.
Approach To Care
Dr. Huang believes that caring for those in their time of medical need is a privilege, and he takes this mission to heart. He will spend as much time as needed with those in his care and will always go the extra mile for you, just as he would for family. Dr. Huang doesn’t believe there is only one solution to a problem, and he has spent his career training and researching all available paths he and his patients can take together to come to the best option for them. The healthcare journey should be considered a marathon, not a sprint, and he will be there with you from the start to the finish line.
