Nicholai Stephens
Dr. Stephens is board-certified in General Surgery and licensed to practice in Texas. He values a minimally invasive approach to surgery, both robotic and laparoscopic, and minimizing the impact of surgery on patients.
Mission
“I come from a family of scientists and have always loved the discipline, but less so the research aspects of it. I find the practical applications of it more interesting, and I enjoy working with my hands, so surgery was a natural fit. I find great satisfaction in curing patients of their disease processes and doing so in ways to minimize pain and accelerate recovery using both minimally invasive surgical techniques and advanced recovery protocols.”
Experience & Expertise
After completing two fellowships in Minimally Invasive Surgery and Minimally Invasive Colorectal Surgery, Dr. Stephens has spent the last eight years in private practice in Houston.
Education & Training
Dr. Stephens received his B.A. from Rice University in 2005 and his M.D. from McGovern Medical School in 2009, and he completed a General Surgery Residency from Nassau University Medical Center in Long Island, New York in 2014. He completed a Minimally Invasive Surgery Fellowship from McGovern Medical School in 2015 and a Minimally Invasive Colorectal Fellowship from McGovern Medical School in 2017.
Leadership & Recognition
Dr. Stephens serves on both the Surgery Advisory Committee and Peer Review Committee at HCA Houston Healthcare West.
