Yuril Colon, NP, is a distinguished Latino healthcare professional with a career spanning over a decade. Fluent in both English and Spanish, Yuril’s cultural roots trace back to Chihuahua, Mexico, through his mother and Caguas, Puerto Rico, through his father.
Commencing his healthcare journey as a Certified Nurse Assistant in 2011, Yuril’s commitment to excellence propelled him to achieve significant milestones. He obtained his Associate Degree in Nursing from Houston Community College in August 2015, followed by a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Texas Tech University Health Science Center in August 2016.
In November 2022, Yuril reached a pinnacle in his academic pursuits by completing a Master of Science in Nursing from Walden University, specializing as an Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. Board certified by the Texas Board of Nursing as an Advance Practice Registered Nurse-Certified Nurse Practitioner (APRN-CNP), Yuril brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to his practice.
With over eight years of experience as an ICU bedside nurse, Yuril honed his skills, specializing in CVICU for the past four years. His responsibilities included managing complex cases involving IABP, Impella, LVADs, ECMO, and more. Notably, he played a crucial role in caring for the sickest patients during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
As an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, Yuril’s current focus is on addressing the challenges faced by individuals struggling with lifelong weight issues and associated complications. In the outpatient setting, he leads a specialized weight loss program that integrates medications, fitness routines, and dietitian-guided meal plans, aiming to simplify and sustain the weight loss journey for his patients.
In the inpatient setting, Yuril specializes in Internal Medicine/Critical Care, offering comprehensive care to diverse patient populations. Beyond his professional endeavors, he values family time, enjoys travel, and finds joy in appreciating life’s simple pleasures.
