Why Have a Sleep Study?

A sleep study, also known as a polysomnography, offers a thorough and reliable way to diagnose sleep disorders. Currently, we offer both at-home sleep studies as well as in-lab studies, depending on what we are measuring. The sleep study essentially uses sophisticated diagnostic tools to monitor and assess your sleep patterns, including your breathing and oxygenation, sleep stages (including the amount of deep sleep), and sleep efficiency with the highest level of precision.

Here are the key benefits of choosing a sleep study with our experts:

Accurate Diagnosis

Sleep studies offer comprehensive data, making it easier for our board-certified sleep specialists to diagnose conditions such as obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), periodic limb movement disorder, narcolepsy, and insomnia.

Comprehensive Monitoring

During a sleep study, multiple sensors in our state-of-the-art equipment monitor brain activity, heart rate, breathing patterns, eye movements, leg movements, and blood oxygen levels. This allows our specialists to gather a complete picture of your sleep behavior and identify any potential disorders.

Expert Oversight

One of the significant advantages of a sleep study is that the data gathered allows our experienced sleep technicians and specialists to analyze your sleep. This ensures that any abnormalities can be quickly identified, and adjustments can be made if necessary.

Technology You Can Trust

Our team is equipped with the latest diagnostic technology, providing accurate and reliable results. Whether you have trouble falling asleep or experience excessive daytime sleepiness, our advanced equipment allows us to evaluate your sleep with precision.

What to Expect During a Sleep Study

A sleep study is a non-invasive procedure that usually takes place overnight. Here’s what you can expect:

  1. Before your sleep study, you’ll meet with one of our sleep specialists to discuss your medical history, sleep patterns, and symptoms. This will help us understand the best approach to your study.
  2. On the night of the study, you’ll follow your normal bedtime routine and get comfortable at home. You will attach our painless, easy-to-use equipment as previously instructed by your sleep technician.
  3. Once you’re comfortably settled, the sensors will monitor your brain waves, heart rate, eye movements, breathing patterns, and blood oxygen levels throughout the night.
  4. After your study, our specialists will analyze the data and meet with you to discuss the results. If a sleep disorder is identified, we’ll work together to develop a personalized treatment plan that may include lifestyle changes, medications, or further treatments like Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) therapy.
